In the remote Fljot Valley near Olafsfjordur, Deplar Farm converts a former sheep farm into a low turf-roofed lodge surrounded by steep mountains and open grassland. Thirteen rooms combine wool, timber, stone and restrained contemporary furniture, with broad windows keeping the valley present indoors. The spa includes an indoor-outdoor geothermal pool, sauna, steam room and flotation facilities, while the bar and lounge retain the scale of a private house. Seasonal activities range from heli-skiing and fly-fishing to hiking and horse riding across the surrounding valleys and coast.
