On Bali’s south-west coast, Soori Bali sits between a volcanic-sand beach, rice fields and the slopes of Mount Batukaru. Designed by architect Soo K. Chan, the resort uses local stone, dark timber and low horizontal forms that recede into the landscape. Each villa has a private pool, with accommodation facing the ocean, beach, gardens or rice terraces and larger residences adding expansive living pavilions. Restaurants work with produce from nearby farms and the resort’s gardens, while Soori Spa centres on organic products and restorative treatments. Reflecting pools, courtyards and sheltered walkways connect the villas with the shoreline.
