In Merida's historic centre, Decu Downtown occupies a restored 19th-century mansion where mosaic floors, corniced ceilings and traditional courtyard architecture have been retained within a pared-back contemporary renovation. Guest rooms continue the contrast with warm stone, timber joinery and simple modern furnishings. The central courtyard opens to an outdoor pool, while the hotel also includes a spa, restaurant and indoor and outdoor event spaces. The kitchen draws on Mayan and Spanish influences in its interpretation of Yucatecan dishes. Arcades, patterned paving and mature planting around the courtyard preserve the domestic scale of the original house amid the galleries, museums and restaurants of central Merida.
