Havila Voyages is part coastal cruise and part lifeline service, operating four modern ships on the historic route between Bergen and Kirkenes. The complete round voyage takes 12 days and calls at 34 ports, but shorter northbound, southbound and port-to-port sectors can also be booked. Calls range from a few minutes to several hours because the ships carry local passengers and freight as well as holiday guests. That working purpose gives the journey a character quite unlike a conventional Norwegian fjord cruise: the coast itself, the changing light and the rhythm of daily communities become the central experience.

A coastal service rather than a floating resort
The ships are comfortable, but the route remains the organising principle. Wide windows and outdoor decks are positioned for watching narrow sounds, islands and winter skies, while cabins range from practical inside rooms to larger suites. Dining draws on ingredients sourced along the Norwegian coast and favours served dishes over a large continuous buffet. Full-board packages apply to cruise voyages, whereas port-to-port fares are structured differently. The hybrid propulsion system combines large batteries with liquefied natural gas, supporting quiet harbour operation and reflecting the technical demands of this year-round coastal service.
