River cruising and ocean discovery under one name
Scenic operates two distinctly different fleets. Its Space-Ships are contemporary river vessels, generally carrying fewer than 170 guests on European waterways, with a smaller ship on the Mekong; Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Eclipse II are 228-guest Discovery Yachts, reduced to 200 guests in Antarctica, with all-suite accommodation and polar capability. River journeys follow a structured programme of towns, cities and guided visits, while the ocean fleet moves between expedition cruising in polar and remote regions and yacht-style coastal voyages in warmer waters. Both are highly inclusive, but their scale, pace and purpose are markedly different.

Space-Ships on rivers, Discovery Yachts at sea
On the rivers, Scenic’s balcony suites, lounges and dining venues support an unhurried routine built around daily touring. Scenic Eclipse is more elaborate: every accommodation is a suite with a veranda, there are multiple restaurants and observation spaces, and the ships carry Zodiacs, kayaks and other expedition equipment. Helicopter and submersible operations are available only on selected voyages and remain subject to regional rules, conditions and additional charges. Service is attentive across both fleets, but the Discovery Yachts offer a broader range of dining, wellness and expedition facilities than the river ships.
THE Destinations
European waterways and remote ocean regions
Scenic’s river network centres on the Danube, Rhine, Main, Moselle, Rhône, Seine and Douro, with additional journeys on the Mekong. The Discovery Yachts have a far wider deployment, operating in Antarctica and the Arctic as well as the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. The character of each voyage follows the region: polar sailings are organised around flexible landings and wildlife, while warmer-water programmes place more weight on ports, islands and longer days ashore.
