Fourteen off-grid villas form Terrestre, set into the dry tropical landscape outside Puerto Escondido on the Oaxacan coast. Alberto Kalach and TAX shaped the property from brick, concrete, timber and clay, using geometric volumes and earth tones that follow the colours of the surrounding sand and scrub. Each villa extends outdoors through a private pool, terrace, hammock and bathing area. Solar power supports the retreat, while shared spaces include a restaurant, communal pool and spa with hammam. Stepped brick walls, shaded passages and ochre surfaces keep the architecture low against the open coastal terrain.
