Brach Madrid occupies a 1922 building on Gran Via, where a cafe and bar originally faced the street and designer ateliers occupied the upper floors. Philippe Starck has shaped the hotel's contemporary interior, setting it against the architectural character of one of central Madrid's principal avenues. The original facade and proportions retain the building's relationship with Gran Via, while the former commercial layout gives the public spaces a distinct urban scale. Inside, the design draws directly from the contrast between the 1920s structure and Starck's later intervention, most visible where the old cafe frontage meets the new interior.
