Calala Island is a private Caribbean retreat in Nicaragua’s Pearl Cays, reached by boat and shared by only a handful of suites. Thatched roofs, open-sided living areas and polished timber place the accommodation firmly within the tropical setting, while each suite faces the sea through palms and gardens. The island’s pool, beach, spa treatments and water activities are arranged around an all-inclusive stay, with meals served in several informal locations rather than a conventional dining room. Coral reefs and mangroves shape excursions beyond the sand. At night, lanterns, low roofs and the sound of water replace the infrastructure of a larger resort.
