Casa de São Lourenço is set high in Portugal’s Serra da Estrela, where panoramic windows frame the mountains and the Zêzere glacial valley. The original 1940 building by Rogério Azevedo was reworked by Site Specific Arquitetura, retaining mid-century references while introducing contemporary Portuguese design and extensive use of Burel wool from the region. Rooms and suites pair clean lines with mountain-facing balconies or terraces. The panoramic restaurant and spa keep the landscape in view, with heated indoor and outdoor water facilities, sauna and Turkish bath. Stone, wool and locally made design pieces carry the Serra da Estrela identity through the interiors.
