Château de la Treyne rises directly above the Dordogne near Lacave, its stone terraces and round towers occupying a cliff edge within a large private park. Seventeen individually furnished rooms and suites retain carved fireplaces, patterned textiles and antique furniture, with several looking directly over the river. The gastronomic restaurant moves seasonally between a formal dining room and a remarkable terrace suspended above the water. French gardens, woodland paths, a swimming pool and a Romanesque chapel extend behind the château, while the river remains the dominant feature from the arrival façade to the restaurant terrace.
