Hotel Fortaleza do Guincho occupies a 17th-century fortress above the Atlantic on the exposed coast between Cascais and Cabo da Roca. Its 27 rooms use warm colour, patterned textiles and arched openings, with many looking directly across Guincho beach and the ocean. The Michelin-starred restaurant places the coastline at the centre of both its cooking and its glass-walled dining room, while Spot provides a more informal terrace setting. Stone ramparts, small courtyards and constant sea views define the public spaces, with the dunes and surf beginning immediately below the hotel.
