In Prague's Old Town, Hotel Josef brings two minimalist buildings together around a landscaped courtyard, a sharp contemporary intervention among the surrounding historic streets. Architect Eva Jiřičná uses limestone, glass and precise angular forms, with a sculptural spiral staircase linking the public spaces. Rooms are bright and restrained, furnished with modern pieces by designers including Philippe Starck and Enzo Mari. A bakery and bar open onto the courtyard, while the rooftop gym and wellness area sit above the city. The clean facade, internal garden and glass stair form a distinctly modern address within walking distance of Prague's medieval core.
