On South Island in Shanghai's Dishui Lake, InterContinental Shanghai Harbour City spreads through low rise buildings and a central tower arranged around landscaped grounds. The flower shaped plan gives many rooms broad lake or garden views, although outlooks differ by building and category. COMMUNE provides all day international dining, while Cai Feng Lou concentrates on contemporary Chinese dishes. An indoor swimming pool, gym and dedicated spaces for younger guests support time spent on the island, and substantial meeting rooms serve the surrounding Lingang business district. Shanghai Astronomy Museum and Haichang Ocean Park are nearby by road. Central Shanghai lies much farther north, making this a waterside Lingang resort rather than a base within the historic city centre.
