Kaipuu on the Reef stands on a rocky peninsula south of Quanzhou, its modern white buildings facing a crescent beach and open sea. Rooms are restrained and tactile, using warm timber, pale stone and broad windows to draw the coastline indoors. A rooftop infinity pool follows the edge of the building, while Reef Bar and the restaurant extend onto terraces beside the water. Gardens and low pathways soften the architecture where it meets the shore. Quanzhou’s historic centre and temples require a drive, but the immediate experience remains focused on rock formations, sea views and the changing light across the hotel’s coastal frontage.
