Within a former 15th-century monastery in central Maastricht, Kruisherenhotel places contemporary design beneath Gothic vaults and stained glass. Rooms are distributed through the church, cloisters and adjoining buildings, combining stone, dark timber and bespoke furniture with surviving religious architecture. A suspended mezzanine creates a striking dining space within the nave. The wine bar and cloister courtyard provide more intimate settings. Sculptural lighting, contemporary art and the original ribbed ceilings allow the historic structure to remain dominant, even as the interiors introduce a distinctly modern rhythm.
