La Lancha is set in the rainforest above Lake Petén Itzá, near El Remate and around 45 minutes by road from Tikal. Its ten casitas and suites combine Guatemalan textiles, carved timber and furniture chosen by Francis and Eleanor Coppola, with screened interiors, private decks and hammocks facing the forest or lake. Beneath the main lodge’s thatched roof, La Vista Bonita serves Guatemalan dishes alongside wood-fired pizza, while a hillside pool, temazcal and lakeside activities provide quieter alternatives to excursions. Guests can canoe from the shore in the morning and reach Tikal’s temples before the main daytime crowds.
