Lapa Rios Lodge occupies a forested ridge within a 1,000-acre private reserve near Cabo Matapalo, where Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula meets the Golfo Dulce and Pacific coastline. Its open-air bungalows, suites and villas use screened walls, timber decks and broad ocean or forest views to keep the surrounding canopy present; newer categories add air conditioning and private pools. Guapira Restaurant serves Costa Rican cooking in a thatched, open-sided dining room, with wellness treatments available close to the forest. Resident naturalists lead birding walks, night tours, waterfall hikes and reserve trails, and several secluded beaches can be reached on foot from the lodge.
