In the centre of Bernalda, Palazzo Margherita occupies a 19th-century palazzo restored by Francis Ford Coppola as an intimate family house. Nine rooms and suites layer frescoed ceilings, patterned tile, carved doors and locally made furniture around a planted courtyard. The garden contains a small pool, fountain and citrus trees, while meals are served beneath the courtyard arches or in the formal salon. A private screening room acknowledges the owner’s cinematic history without overwhelming the residential atmosphere, and the town’s main corso begins just beyond the entrance.
