Refuge de la Traye occupies a tiny Alpine hamlet above Meribel, reached through forest and mountain terrain rather than an urban resort centre. A collection of restored chalets combines weathered timber, stone fireplaces and deeply comfortable contemporary rooms, many opening to balconies or terraces. The spa introduces unusual treatments alongside a pool, hammam and saunas, while regional dishes are served in intimate dining rooms. Skiing, snowshoeing and summer walking begin directly from the refuge. From the surrounding slopes, the cluster of steep roofs appears against dense pine forest and open snowfields within the Three Valleys landscape.
