At the six-way junction of Damen, North and Milwaukee avenues, The Robey occupies a slender 1929 Art Deco tower overlooking Chicago’s Wicker Park and Bucktown neighbourhoods. Tower rooms use hardwood, terrazzo and broad windows to frame long city views. The adjoining former warehouse contains loft-style accommodation with exposed concrete and higher ceilings. Café Robey serves the street level, and The Up Room places cocktails near the top of the tower. In summer, the rooftop pool terrace at The Robey Hall adds an open-air counterpoint to the building’s sharply tapered brick profile.
