Beside Nai Yang Beach in northern Phuket, The Slate turns the island's tin-mining history into an expressive resort landscape by Bill Bensley. Blackened steel, concrete, bronze and heavy timber appear throughout the rooms and private-pool villas, offset by lush planting and Thai craft. Multiple swimming pools shape the grounds, while Coqoon Spa places treatment rooms among the trees. Black Ginger is reached across a lagoon, with Rivet, Rebar and a seaside barbecue adding distinct dining settings. Industrial forms, sculptural lighting and dense tropical gardens continue from the arrival spaces to the beachfront edge of the resort.
