On the western shore of Lake Como in Cernobbio, Villa d’Este occupies a 16th-century residence surrounded by formal gardens, fountains and old trees. Rooms and suites in the Cardinal Building and Queen’s Pavilion retain silk fabrics, antiques, painted ceilings and richly patterned interiors, with windows facing the lake or park. The floating pool sits directly on the water, joined by tennis courts, a spa and several restaurants arranged between terraces and historic rooms. The long mosaic garden axis rises behind the villa, while boats arrive below the lakeside façade.
