Andean Explorer crosses southern Peru at high altitude, linking Cusco, Lake Titicaca and Arequipa over one or two nights. Its appeal lies in the combination of broad Altiplano landscapes, nights aboard and guided stops that would otherwise require separate journeys. All 35 cabins have private shower rooms, and the train’s dining cars, piano bar, observation deck and spa provide distinct spaces as the landscape changes.

Private cabins and an open view of the Altiplano
Accommodation ranges from compact Bunk Bed Cabins to Twin Bed Cabins and larger Suites, all with private bathrooms. The two dining cars serve Peruvian menus, while the piano bar offers a more informal setting between meals. The open observation deck is particularly suited to the wide, high-altitude landscape; a separate spa carriage provides treatments during the journey.
THE JOURNEYS
Cusco, Lake Titicaca and Arequipa
The train links three very different parts of southern Peru: the former Inca capital of Cusco, Puno and Lake Titicaca, and the volcanic landscape around Arequipa. Depending on the direction, the programme may include the Uros Islands, Taquile, Raqchi or the Sumbay Caves. Altitude and the sequence of visits are important when deciding where the journey should sit within a wider Peru itinerary.
