About
El Transcantábrico Gran Lujo
Spain’s northern coast aboard an all-suite train
El Transcantábrico Gran Lujo follows Spain’s northern coast between San Sebastián and Santiago de Compostela over seven nights. The narrow-gauge railway allows access to smaller cities and landscapes across the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia. Fourteen private suites are paired with original 1923 Pullman saloons, while a coach accompanies the train for guided visits and meals away from the railway.

the experience
Four Pullman saloons and fourteen private suites
The original Pullman saloons date from 1923 and now serve as dining, lounge, bar and panoramic spaces. Each suite has a separate seating area, fixed bed and private bathroom. The train usually remains stationary overnight, and a coach travels alongside for daily visits. Breakfast is served aboard, while selected lunches and dinners take place in regional restaurants along the route.
THE JOURNEYS
San Sebastián to Santiago through Green Spain
The journey crosses four regions, combining coastal cities with places such as Santillana del Mar, the Picos de Europa and Cangas de Onís before reaching Santiago de Compostela. Departures operate in both directions, but the sequence of visits changes accordingly. Days combine short rail sectors, coach transfers, guided touring and regional meals rather than long uninterrupted periods aboard.
