About
Rocky Mountaineer
The Canadian Rockies, travelled entirely by day
Rocky Mountaineer is structured around daylight rather than sleeping accommodation. The Canadian routes link Vancouver with Banff, Lake Louise or Jasper over two rail days, with a hotel night in Kamloops. GoldLeaf Service uses a bi-level glass-dome coach with a separate dining room and outdoor platform; SilverLeaf keeps seating and meal service together in a single-level panoramic carriage. The service level determines how the landscape, meals and time aboard are experienced.

the experience
Panoramic coaches by day, hotels by night
Guests leave the train in Kamloops and return the following morning, so there are no sleeping cabins or evenings aboard. GoldLeaf places seating beneath a full glass dome, with meals served in a lower-level dining room and access to an outdoor platform. SilverLeaf offers wide panoramic windows and at-seat dining on one level, with a smaller outdoor viewing area.
THE JOURNEYS
Vancouver, Kamloops and the Rockies
First Passage to the West runs between Vancouver and Banff or Lake Louise, while Journey through the Clouds connects Vancouver and Jasper. Both use Kamloops as the overnight point and can be travelled in either direction. The rail journey is often combined with additional nights in the mountain towns, so hotel location and onward transport are as important as the train service selected.

Rocky Mountaineer is daylight-only and hotel accommodation is required between rail days. Service level, hotel category, transfers and route extensions should be compared together.
THE WIDER JOURNEY
Before boarding and after arrival
The departure and arrival cities can be as much a part of the experience as the train itself. Marbury can arrange hotels, flights and transfers around the rail journey, whether that means arriving the night before departure, spending a few additional days at the final destination or continuing elsewhere as part of a longer itinerary.
