With 18 cabins, Royal Scotsman remains deliberately intimate. Journeys leave Edinburgh for two to seven nights, drawing together the Highlands, west coast and islands with time aboard the train. Two dining cars, the observation lounge and Dior Spa shape the day on board; guided walks, private visits and distillery experiences provide the counterpoint away from it.

Private cabins and evenings in the observation car
Twin, Double and Grand Suite cabins all have private shower rooms, with Grand Suites adding fixed beds and a separate living area. Meals are served in the Raven and Swift dining cars. The observation car is used throughout the day and again after dinner, when drinks and live music set a relaxed tone. Treatments take place in the Dior Spa carriage.
THE JOURNEYS
Scotland beyond the main line
Journeys leave Edinburgh for different parts of the Highlands and western Scotland. Depending on the departure, the route may include the Cairngorms, Speyside, the Kyle line, the Isle of Skye or private estates not normally open to the public. The number of nights changes the balance between scenic rail travel and time off the train, so the itinerary matters more than any single headline route.
