Plaza San Francisco fills the outlook from Casa Gangotena, a restored mansion in the heart of Quito’s historic centre. Its thirty-one rooms combine high ceilings, polished wood, patterned floors and Art Deco-influenced furnishings with the generous proportions of the original house. An enclosed courtyard garden brings greenery into the centre of the property, while the loggia and rooftop terrace turn outward towards tiled roofs, church domes and the hills beyond the Old Town. Restaurant and lounge spaces occupy the mansion’s principal rooms rather than a separate modern wing. From the front door, the stone paving and monumental façade of Plaza San Francisco remain part of the hotel’s immediate setting.
