In Mexico City’s historic centre, Círculo Mexicano occupies a 19th-century townhouse associated with photographer Manuel Álvarez Bravo. The restoration preserves arcades, masonry and a central courtyard. Rooms remain deliberately spare in pale timber, white plaster and woven textiles. A ground-floor market and restaurant bring local food, craft and neighbourhood activity into the building, with a rooftop pool, bar and terrace overlooking the surrounding domes and streets. Black-and-white photography and the house’s original proportions give the contemporary interiors a clear connection to Mexican visual culture.
