In the Centro Histórico, Círculo Mexicano reworks a 19th-century residential building around the logic of a traditional vecindad, with rooms on the upper floors facing light-filled patios and a central open space. Ambrosi Etchegaray’s architecture is deliberately spare, matched by Shaker-inspired furniture from local studio La Metropolitana, Oaxacan textiles and natural materials. The ground and rooftop levels are more social, bringing together a restaurant, bar and open-air pool above the surrounding historic streets. Private patios, exposed brick and volcanic stone give the hotel a distinctly contemporary reading of Mexico City’s domestic architecture.
