Hotel Orfila occupies an 1886 mansion on a quiet street in Madrid’s Chamberí district, close to the galleries and boutiques around Alonso Martínez. Its 32 rooms and suites preserve the scale of a private residence, combining period furniture, patterned fabrics, marble bathrooms and individually selected antiques. El Jardín de Orfila, overseen by chef Mario Sandoval, opens from an intimate dining room onto a secluded garden terrace framed by mature planting and trompe-l’oeil walls. A wood-panelled lounge and small bar reinforce the townhouse atmosphere, with the enclosed garden providing the property’s most distinctive social space.
