InterContinental Lyon Hotel Dieu occupies the restored Grand Hotel Dieu on the banks of the Rhone, one of Lyon's landmark historic buildings and a former hospital dating to the eighteenth century. Vaulted public spaces and courtyards from the original structure sit alongside contemporary rooms and suites designed by Jean Philippe Nuel, who worked within the building's existing proportions rather than against them. Dining at Epona and drinks at the dramatic Le Dome bar add a sense of occasion, close to the Presqu'ile district and the river. The original stone courtyards remain open to guests throughout the day.
