On Torcello, beside Santa Fosca and the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, Locanda Cipriani sits within gardens that have shaped its character since 1936. The restored suites use polished timber, striped textiles and softly coloured walls, balancing the island’s quiet history with a crisp contemporary finish. Indoors, the dining room retains rich wood panelling and green upholstery; outside, tables extend beneath pergolas towards lawns, vines and the neighbouring Byzantine brickwork. Reached across the Venetian lagoon, the locanda remains enclosed by orchards, pathways and the ancient churches at the centre of Torcello.
