Facing Santo Domingo in central Oaxaca, Otro Oaxaca uses a contemporary building by RootStudio to reinterpret forms drawn from local architecture. Sixteen rooms are arranged through cross-shaped circulation and geometry informed by Mitla, with green limestone, exposed masonry, timber and muted natural tones shaping the interiors. Above, a limestone rooftop terrace and plunge pool overlook the historic centre; below, the restaurant leads to a subterranean wellness area with hammam, steam room, massage spaces and another plunge pool. Brick vaults and textured stone define the underground rooms, contrasting with the open roof and its direct view towards Santo Domingo.
