Above Via Condotti, close to the Spanish Steps, Portrait Roma occupies several floors of a discreet townhouse associated with the Ferragamo family. Fourteen suites use pale timber, bespoke furniture, fashion photography and references to the atelier’s Roman history; kitchenettes and separate living areas reinforce the feel of a private apartment. Breakfast and evening drinks are served on the rooftop terrace, where tables look across domes, tiled roofs and Trinità dei Monti. There is no conventional lobby or restaurant sequence: the lift opens into quiet residential floors set directly above Rome’s principal shopping street.
