Near Vathia on the Mani peninsula, Tainaron Blue Retreat occupies a restored stone tower house set high above the rugged southern Peloponnese and the open sea. With only three rooms, it preserves the scale and vertical character of the original fortified residence, using exposed local stone, timber and restrained contemporary furnishings inside its thick walls. Meals are served in intimate indoor and outdoor settings, drawing on ingredients and flavours from the region. An infinity pool and hydrotherapy area sit directly against the rocky landscape outside, while terraces and paths follow the contours of the site. The result remains closely tied to the remote, elemental character of Mani rather than behaving like a conventional resort.
