The Scott occupies a historic house on Edinburgh’s Pollock Estate, with Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat rising directly behind the property. Eighteenth-century origins and later baronial additions remain visible in the irregular room proportions, fireplaces, carved wood and decorative details, complemented by Scottish textiles, antiques and contemporary artwork rather than a uniform scheme. Bonnar’s restaurant sits beneath an eighteenth-century ceiling fresco and focuses on seasonal Scottish produce. The public rooms retain the atmosphere of the original house, with no attempt to smooth away its architectural eccentricities. Holyroodhouse and the lower Royal Mile are nearby, but the parkland setting gives the hotel unusual breathing space within the city.
