Colour and daylight are central to The Whitby Hotel’s identity on West 56th Street. Kit Kemp has designed every room and suite individually, combining patterned fabrics, original artwork and bespoke furniture with floor-to-ceiling windows; selected categories add private terraces above Midtown. The Whitby Bar and Restaurant opens onto the street. A drawing room, library and orangery provide quieter guest spaces farther inside. A private screening room, gym and treatment room sit elsewhere in the building. Central Park, Carnegie Hall and Fifth Avenue are all close, yet the hotel’s strongest distinction is internal: highly individual rooms within a contemporary structure rather than a historic townhouse.
