St John’s Square gives The Zetter Clerkenwell a distinctly local setting in one of central London’s oldest neighbourhoods. The townhouse contains a small collection of individually styled rooms and suites, mixing antique-inspired pieces, British pattern and playful decoration with Hypnos beds, Verden bath products and Hansgrohe Raindance showers. Public space is deliberately limited: The Parlour occupies the ground floor as drawing room and cocktail bar, keeping the atmosphere intimate rather than hotel-like. Smithfield Market, St John Street and Clerkenwell’s restaurants are all close, but the building itself retains the irregular bedrooms, domestic scale and front-parlour character of the house it occupies.
