Telegraphenamt occupies Berlin’s former main telegraph office on Monbijoustraße in Mitte, an early-20th-century neo-Baroque building a short walk from Museum Island. Ninety-seven rooms, maisonettes and suites move between exposed brick, steel structure and more polished Art Deco and modernist details, using the scale of the original building rather than disguising it. ROOT provides the principal restaurant and social space, joined by a bar and event areas beneath the high historic interiors. Monbijou Park, the Spree and the museums lie close outside, while the former communications building remains the dominant architectural presence inside.
