A room key opens The Residence, three guest-only parlours reserved for residents. Above them, the 350 bedrooms and suites use a restrained, loft-like design. Public dining and drinking is more expansive: Whitcomb’s, The Stage, Joshua’s Tavern and the Japanese-inspired rooftop at 8 form part of six restaurants and bars. Below street level, The Retreat brings together a pool, gym and treatment rooms, alongside screening spaces and a ballroom. Much of the property’s activity sits below or behind the façade, creating a striking counterpoint to the square outside.
